PAINTER
BORN: February 5, 1970, New York, New York
"I am intrigued with the familiar, the way things come out of the ground, the moving water, the unpredictable patterns of leaves and rocks and how it's all woven together and changing at the same time."
Painter Daniel Anthonisen is the second generation of a family of artists. His father is the Bucks County sculptor George Anthonisen. Like many of the region's painters, nature is Daniel's studio. His home in Point Pleasant provides easy access to the Tohickon Creek and the Delaware River, subjects that figure prominently in his paintings. He has created his own easel and waterproof storage so he can work in the middle of the river, and this allows him to work on a number of paintings in one sitting. Whether creating an oil painting, a pencil sketch, or a pen and ink drawing, he works en plein air, capturing the energy of his surroundings.
Daniel Anthonisen follows the family tradition as an award-winning artist, having won national competitions since the age of 18. His work has been exhibited in New York City at the Salmagundi Club; the Antique Boat Museum, Clayton, New York; in Pennsylvania at Muhlenberg College, Allentown, James A. Michener Art Museum, Doylestown and New Hope, Travis Gallery, New Hope and Bucks County Community College, Newtown along with numerous other galleries and shows. His work is represented in private collections throughout the country. In 2008, Anthonisen was represented in the James A. Michener Art Museum exhibition - New Hope: Art and the River.
