PHOTOGRAPHER, PRINTMAKER
BORN: September 13, 1941, Brooklyn, New York

My current work consists of abstract, cast handmade paper pieces. These works are frequently colored with oil sticks, oil pastels and gouache. Often photographic images are collaged into the work. It is fascinating to combine abstract shapes, colors and textures with very ordinary, representational, photographic imagery.

Judith Heep's work combines the abstract with the seemingly real, such as animals or people with fields of color, in a mixed-media format. She begins by casting her own paper from molds, achieving a different texture and color each time, and creating unique 'prints' embellished with painting, drawing, stitching, and collage. A resident of Doylestown, Judy Heep has exhibited in regional and national shows. Her work is in many private and public collections and she is a founding member of the Muse Gallery in Philadelphia.
She is represented in the 2005 exhibition, The Contemporary Eye, at the James A Michener Art Musuem in New Hope, Pennsylvania.
