Homeschoolers ages 6 to 12 and their parents will discover many aspects of the Michener Art Museum exhibitions and the rich artistic history of Bucks County in these series of programs geared for the homeschooler. Workshops will include gallery-based activities, a studio project and suggestions for post visit activities to take home. During the workshops, parents will be given a guided tour of the museum so they can further build on the day's arts experiences. Register for as many classes as you choose. Registration is limited to 15 students per class, please register early!

Monthly Wednesdays from 1 to 3 pm
Fee per student per class: members $20 / non-members $25. Price includes museum admission for students. Adults wishing to stay for the tour pay $5.50 admission fee. Please indicate dates when registering.

FALL SESSION: 2007

1024 October 24: Look Into Landscape
Explore and discover the many different landscapes at the Michener and the many ways artists approach them. Students will create an original landscape of their own.
1025 November 14: Portrait Personalities
Learn about how artists use the figure in different kinds of artwork! Students will examine portraiture in the collection and create a portrait in the art studio.
1026 December 12: All About Abstraction
What is abstract art? How and why do artists create abstract art? Learn about abstract styles, techniques and ideas and create abstract image of your own.

WINTER SESSION: 2008

1027 January 16: Storytelling in Art
How can artwork tell a story? How can you create a story using a work of art? Examine works of art that tell stories in the museum. Create an artwork that illustrates your own unique short story in this studio workshop.
1028 February 20: Marvelous Murals
Discover and learn about murals focusing on Daniel Garber's A Wooded Watershed during your visit in the museum. Create a group mural with your classmates in this studio workshop.
1029 March 12: Crazy for Collage
Discover the fun technique of collage and the various materials artists may use to create their collages. Create your own original collage in this studio workshop.

SPRING SESSION: 2008

1030 April 16: Magnificent Mixed Media
Explore artists in the museum that use non-traditional materials in creating their artwork that express their unique backgrounds and cultures. Create your own mixed media artwork that expresses your individual background in this studio workshop.
1031 May 14: Animals in the Museum!
Is that a grasshopper? Is that a dog? Be an art detective and look for animals in the artwork at the museum. Create your own original artwork including your favorite animal in this studio workshop.
1032 June 11: Sensational Sculpture
What is a sculpture? What kinds of sculpture can you find inside and outside the museum? Learn about some materials and techniques artists use to create sculptures while looking at sculptures at the museum. Create your own sculpture in this studio workshop.
