Peter Paone, Arcimboldo's Infanta, Acrylic Watercolor , 30 x 22 in., Collection of the artist
October 16, 2004 through January 16, 2005
Pfundt Gallery, Doylestown

One of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts' most distinguished faculty members, Peter Paone has an international reputation as a painter and printmaker. His work has received more than fifty solo exhibitions in such cities as New York, Houston, London, Vienna, and Hamburg, and is in such prestigious collections as the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Academy of Design, the National Gallery of Art, and the British Museum. He also was the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship. Paone's dreamlike, narrative imagery draws on the rich source material of literature and mythology, but more than anything on his lively imagination. This exhibit focused on a little-known aspect of his work, a series of lively and expressive watercolors that Paone has produced in recent years.
