"My wife and I were at my Tribeca studio on that sunny morning when the first jet roared over the skylight and slammed into the North Tower six blocks away... I took my first photo within seconds of the impact as the pigeons were lifting to the sound of the explosion."

Todd Stone spent the remainder of that tragic day drawing and photographing, and later turned his terror and grief into a series of watercolors that record the events of 9/11 as only an eyewitness could. This exhibition features a selection of these powerful images, which have also been exhibited at the New York Historical Society, Art Museum of Southeast Texas and the Florence Biennale, Italy and the Opelousas Museum of Art, Louisiana.

Todd Stone was born in New York City. In 1980, he moved his studio from the Bowery to Tribeca. Stone is also a resident of Bucks County; before 9/11 he considered his Kintnersville studio a retreat from the pressures of Manhattan, but afterward the place became more of a true home. He is currently president of the Gallows Run Watershed Association in Nockamixon Township, Pennsylvania and publisher of its newsletter, the Upper Bucks Futures. "My sense of community was strengthened and I was pulled into public service."

Stone has exhibited his work internationally in museums and galleries for over thirty years. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Painting and from the National Academy of Design.
